Recently we had the opportunity to interview a strong force in todays hip hop industry. He has worked on your favorite rapper and trapper projects and also introduced the us to some of the best new artist from Big K.R.I.T to LEP Bogus Boys. He none other than the man they call DJ Folk, but today we take a break from all the beat placements, split sheets etc and talk sneakers.

First of, tell the sneaker world who is DJ Folk.
DJ Folk is a jack of all trades…basically everyone knows about my extensive work with young jeezy. I did light work on lil waynes last 2 albums. Great working relationship with YMCMB . working with birdman on his next album Bigga Than Life. THE CARTEL and the mix tapes.

What sneaker made you a fan of the shoe game?
I remember getting the grape v’s og’s as a shorty….those and i had the dominque wilkins pumps as youngin too.

Greatest shoe of all time in your eyes?
The jordans 3-7′s the og colorways..

What’s the most irresponsible thing you’ve ever done for a pair of sneakers?
I tried to clean those grape v’s with a household cleaner lol lets just say i was left with a =/ face ..lol.

How do you feel about all the fakes/variants/ B grades Etc….?
I mean jordans are so limited and they sell out so fast…so to the average cat in the hood ..variants were a way to still feel like they fake it till they make it… i almost sold variants back in college..but at the time i didnt know…this was right when they first hit the scene in 2002.

What’s your take on NikeID? Is it too much, or what the game needed?
Its needed…sometimes a shoe doesnt come ina colorway u want…so its creative to me.

What’s your take on keeping shoes DS (dead stock)….. If so what pairs in your collection Wont ever touch the pavement?
Dead stock og= big $$$$$ …i have og 12′s 14′s the og jumpman strongs the blk and chuntney low 13′s og all in storage.

What upcoming releases do you plan on picking up?
I got the last shot 14′s early…as much as i dont really like the 11′s im pickin up the concords to re sell…cement 4′s white red 14′s military 4′s raptor 7′s bred 4′s and i still need the yotr 7′s for a reasonable price.

Aside from Jordan’s, what other brands are you into?
The early lebrons 2-4′s chuck taylors …i need the old andre agassi’s bo jacksons.

Do you see Lebron’s sneaker line giving Jordan brand a run in the future?
Its possible….I like what their doing over there…maybe one day he can compete.

When will you call the sneaker game quits? If ever.
Prolly never…I just like wearing sneakers always have always will
